Where to shop for techie stuff

by Penny on January 23, 2009

I love gadgets, but I don’t necessarily have to have the latest of the gadgets. I love visiting Low Yat Plaza and going through all the new stuff they’ve brought into the market. But driving into that part of town requires one to battle heavy traffic and incur high parking charges. Alternatively, one can take the train, bus or cab into town. But if you are going to buy some big gadget or equipment, it would probably be best to drive than to take public transportation like the train or bus.

Lately, I’ve discovered another place where I can browse online for a whole lot of IT stuff. From anti-virus software to laptop memory to flat screen monitor and optical mouse, you can find it all at Asashi. I can place my order via a phone call to the store and have my purchases delivered to my doorstep. Of course there’s delivery charges (RM10 for items weighing 1 kg and below), but I think it’s bearable if you consider adding in your transportation, toll and parking charges to physically get somewhere to do your shopping.

I personally find Asashi’s prices rather reasonable and I have made purchases with them. If you wish to touch and feel to play around with the item you want to purchase, then you may choose to drop by the physical shop itself in Wangsa Maju. At least having this option to browse online and get the store to deliver the products to me, I don’t need to go all the way to Low Yat!
