With all the recent travel promotions, I find that we are all benefiting greatly and have better chances at traveling on a shoestring budget. I’m borrowing this phrase from Air Asia’s latest promotion delivered to my mailbox with various travel deals domestically and some international flights to neighbouring countries and even to Melbourne, Australia.

I happen to share this information with a friend and though she’s a travel buff, nothing on that promotion really tempted her. She’s looking out for Argentina travel deals but the budget airline doesn’t fly there. I asked why she didn’t check out the recent 2009 MATTA fair and she said she dislikes the crowd at such fairs. Fair enough, I feel the same way.

Sometimes, to travel on a shoestring, I feel we need to make some effort and go through the fairs although they are packed. Alternatively, we can wait until the airlines launch some big price war against each other, like how it has been lately. But there are many destinations that one of them doesn’t offer, so there’s no competition and thus price war for those routes!

What do you do or where do you go hunt down cheap travels? I am beginning to warm up to the idea of bringing my little boy on vacation outside of the country, but am trying not to spend too much. If you know of great family travel deals, do share that information.
