Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub

I’ve always grown up knowing this is how a Tiger Balm product looks like:

Recently, I came across a new Tiger Balm product, the Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub and it looks nothing like the long-known little jar of balm. This is what the Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub looks like:

Very modern and chic packaging compared to the traditional balm, isn’t it? I walked over to the promotion counter because I was curious that Tiger Balm now has such a contemporary look. Only upon closer examination did I find out that it is not a repackaging of the balm, but it is a new product altogether.

The Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub is a cream based ointment to be rubbed and massaged on the neck and shoulder to provide quick relief to aching and tensed muscles. When I asked if it is specifically to be used only for neck and shoulder and why that is so, I was told that the product is known to be effective for these areas. It can still be used on other parts of the body where you feel aches, such as on the back or legs. But its best effects are still known to be on the neck and shoulder.

The texture of this cream is quite light. It is supposedly non-greasy but this may be quite subjective to different skin types. So try out some on your skin before you make a purchase. If you are wondering about the strong and pungent smell of the typical tiger balm, you will be pleasantly surprised that this is not quite like the balm. It has some of the minty smell of the balm but it contains some essential oils that give it a rather refreshing scent that rejuventates you. The essential oils include I-methol, eucalyptus, d-camphor and mint oil.

The Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub retails at RM15.98 for a 50ml tube.
