Lately I’ve been using a lot of skincare products from Vichy. It started with just one and then I was given a lot of samples and I eventually bought my own after seeing some results from using the Vichy skincare products. This post is a review of the much raved about and best seller of Vichy’s Normaderm range, a moisturiser called Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care.
Prior to using this moisturiser, I tried the same range’s essence (read my review of the Total Pore Resurfacing Essence) which is supposed to help minimise pores. It didn’t do the job for me and I wasn’t quite sure if I should try the moisturer. The articles I read about from magazines on this product sound promising but I still wasn’t sure.
I was keen to have this product work on my blackhead problem which I wrote about earlier (read it here). And since I had the samples and a reader on the blog actually left a comment to say how well it worked for her, I decided to give it a try. And there’s really no regrets because it works for me.
This moisturiser has matt finishing, so I rate it very well because I hate looking shiny after applying skincare products on the face. I have used many which are like that and I just lived with it. So now with this matt-finish moisturiser where I don’t look shiny at all and my skin feels smooth and non-sticky, I’m absolutely recommending it.
But more importantly, it has really done its job well in helping to minimise my pores. My pore problem is centered around my nose area and I often have blackheads. Nothing has really helped in this area other than me constantly extracting the blackheads. But I noticed that within a week of using the Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care, my pores have actually become smaller on the nose, thus reduced some blackheads. I still do some extraction every once in a while but I notice that it’s a lot less.
Also, the skin area on the nose prior to using this moisturiser was a little on the “rough” side because you can feel the little bumps of the blackheads on the nose. But now, even with some blackheads visible, the skin area actually feels smooth with no “blackhead bumps”!
I was surprised that this moisturiser was able to delivery such good results in such a short time. And, I only use it once in a day, as a day moisturiser only. Isn’t it great that using it just once a day and within a week I can already have smoother skin?
On the other hand, lately I’ve got some ugly pimples that sprouted around my nose area. This moisturiser didn’t help with those pimples though. I thought it might since it is claimed to be a total blemish control product to correct acnes, pimples, blackheads and shine. But then again I’m not too hard on it when it didn’t help in getting rid of those pimples because I’m more impressed with the results on my blackhead prone area as well as giving me a non-shine look each time I use it.
The smell of the moisturiser is a little strong for my senses. However, over time I’ve gotten used to it. I prefer the milder and fresh scent of the Aqualia Thermal moisturiser (I’ll write a separate review on this moisturiser soon). Texture wise, it is quite light and very easily absorbed into the skin.
You can find Vichy’s products at all Guardian and Watson outlets. This Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care moisturiser comes in a 50ml bottle and retails for RM100. I went for it when there was a special discount and got it for 20% off. So if you are keen, you can always watch out for promotions or just ask the lady manning the counter to see if you’re in luck to get some discounts.
Anyone else using this moisturiser and want to share your feedback and thoughts on it? We’ll all be more than happy to hear from praises or even how it might not have worked for others. You are welcomed to share your views in the comment box below.
