The many uses of Listerine
by Penny on September 11, 2008
I have to be outright, I don’t use Listerine. My two preferred brands of mouthwash are Oral B and Plax. Somehow, even though Listerine is milder in taste and quite a pioneer in this market, I just never caught on with the product.
Anyway, this post is not about Listerine the mouthwash. Instead, I am sharing a couple more uses of Listerine other than it being an effective mouthwash.
When I was pregnant, I went through a hard time with morning sickness. To keep from throwing up, I turned to menthol inhalers and they provided some level of comfort. Then one day, while at the doctor’s office, he saw me inhaling from it and he gave me a little tip. He had a bottle of Listerine at his sink and he asked me to inhale that. I thought it was so weird but you know, it actually works! Since then, instead of carrying around an inhaler, I carried with me a small travel-size bottle of Listerine to keep my vomitting spells at bay.
Another use of Listerine is as an insect repellant. Spray some around the areas which are mosquito-prone and it is said to keep the mosquities away for days. I’m keen to try this out instead of using the usual insect spray which contains a lot more harmful chemicals. Plus I don’t find them very effective in keeping mosquitoes away too.
So there you have it, a bottle of Listerine could serve you well in many ways!
