Sally Williams Nougat

When I got to the office, I was surprised to see a small package on my table. It was a little gift as a token of appreciation – 2 pieces of Sally Williams nougat with a little “thank you” note attached.

I’m not a fan of nougats. Almost everyone that I know who goes to Australia is sure to return with bags and bags of nougat as souvenirs. And most people I know love this stuff too. I could never learn to acquire the liking for it. So I didn’t touch them all day until later in the afternoon when I started getting hungry.

Busy with work and not wanting to take the time to run off to the cafeteria to buy food, I decided to just eat the nougat. There were two pieces of different variants, cashew and hazelnut.

When I took my first bite on the cashew piece, I was surprised that I instantly liked it! It didn’t taste anything like those that I’ve tasted and definitely not as hard on my teeth too. I was actually savouring it and looked forward to the other piece. However, to my disappointment, the hazelnut one didn’t taste as great. But still I thoroughly enjoyed it. First time in my life that I wanted more nougats!

Sally Williams nougats are considered to be fine foods and not readily available in retail outlets. The only places I know which offer them for sale are florists and gift centres that do customised packaging of hampers or gifts to be delivered. If you know where I can buy these without having to send myself a food hamper, please let me know!
