My son is already 2 years old. We haven’t taken him traveling much except a first time out of the country trip to down town Singapore last Christmas. Before that, I’ve always thought that he’s too young to travel and that it would be quite a hassle to lug so many things with us, like his stroller, diapers (they can be very bulky and need lots of space!), some of his favourite toys to keep him occupied, etc.
But now that he’s a lot easier to manage plus he doesn’t ever want to sit in his stroller anymore, it’s actually quite a breeze. Even when we do outstation trips to see his grandparents, we don’t travel with such a full car anymore.
This has made it easier for us to think about going on far-away holidays, bringing him along to enjoy a family vacation together. After all, lots of kids his age have already seen quite a lot of places and I feel bad that I’m so overly protective or maybe even lazy to get out there because of the hassle.

It would be such a memorable experience to see new places together as a family
Now that I’m more opened to family trips, I do wonder then where would be a good choice to go to. Anyone has any great family holiday destinations to recommend? Also, I hear there’s supposedly some travel fair coming up. I’m a bit out of date on such fairs because I’ve never been and never thought of going so I don’t pay attention to these advertisements. What’s coming up and when?
If possible, it would be great that the family holiday destination is a safe one as well as some place that is inexpensive. We don’t want to splurge too much on a holiday. I guess there should be some major areas that we can work on to make the holiday a litle less costly. Accommodation is one, and of course air fares would be the other if we’re required to fly to the destination.
A friend once gave me a good tip about not going for hotels when we travel in a large group. She went on some free and easy holidays with her family and they managed to get some very good rates for Arizona vacation rentals and Phoenix vacation rentals too. Not only did they save on accommodations on hotel rooms that way, she said they also had the opportunity to eat in for a few simple meals like breakfasts and sometimes dinners because they had the facilities to cook simple meals instead of eating out.
I thought that is a great idea especially with my little boy around. I do prefer to cook him a very simple meal compared to feeding him outside food. So this other factor about being able to cook has gone down very well with me and I would consider this option very seriously instead of paying for a hotel room. Only thing is, I don’t really know how to look for these rentals as they are not as easy to source like hotels. I guess it also depends on the countries we decide to visit, whether they have similar offerings like the Arizona rentals my friend managed to find.
Do you have any suggestions for me on planning a safe and inexpensive family trip?
