About 9 months ago I received a mail from Reader’s Digest about their new book called Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things: 2,317 Ways to Save Money and Time. This book has great tips about the many uses of household items that we probably never knew about. Imagine how exciting it must be to learn some of these new tips!

Okay, maybe not for everyone, but I was extremely interested in this book when I first saw that mailer. It cost RM79.90 if I’m not mistaken and is not available in any bookstores. So orders must be made with the local Reader’s Digest office and I got lazy at filling in the form.
It was a good thing that I was so lazy because someone else made an order for the book and it took months of pain to get the book to her doorstep! It was many rounds of horrible experiences of bad customer service from the local Reader’s Digest office.
After hearing that experience related to me, I lost all hope of getting the book myself because I didn’t want to go through the same months of frustration waiting for that book.
Then recently I made a deal to shop alongside some friends on Amazon.com and we plan to ship all our purchases together in the hope that delivery costs will be slightly cheaper since we’re sharing the load.
I took this opportunity to order a copy of this great Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things book and now I can’t wait for the shipment to arrive! What’s more, the book, after conversion but before shipping charges only cost me RM38! Imagine how thrilled and happy I am.
Although some of these tips featured in the book are available on Reader’s Digest’s website, I would rather have the book in hand. I don’t think I can be bothered to sit here browsing through the thousands of tips on the website. Rather, it’s sometimes nice to sit down with a book and slowly flip the pages and take in the smell of the fresh pages, sip some tea and be awed by what you learn.
So when I get my hands on that book, perhaps I will update with a post to share how useful it is, and whether it’s really worth my money. And perhaps share a few good tips that I’ve learned from it every now and then too. Would you like that?
If I have the time, I wouldn’t mind sharing some of these tips, just don’t ask me for best weight loss supplement tips because I don’t think there are any such tips in this book! So let me see what I can do to incorporate some of these handy, everyday uses and tips in here later. Stay tuned!
