Paulo Coelho’s books

by Penny on April 13, 2008

Some 10 years ago I was first introduced to a book called The Alchemist written by Paulo Coelho. At that time I didn’t know who this author is, and even had difficulties pronouncing his name. Nevertheless, I read the book and since then have been a big fan of his many books. I have a collection of them but stopped a couple years back when my reading slowed down.

The last book of his that I read was about 2 or 3 years ago, The Zahir. This birthday I received another book of his called Like The Flowing River. It’s a collection of short stories written over many years. They are mostly stories that reflect life itself, with some ups and and downs.

I’m not sure how many people out there enjoy Paulo Coelho’s books. His books explore a lot of spirituality of a person but not in a religious way. Sometimes it makes you think and reflect about your beliefs and philosophy of life. Paulo’s style to convey his messages is always through writing novels so that it’s not too dry and boring but still, it may sound a bit too grim to some if they don’t enjoy this kind of topics.

Anyway, if you have not read his books and want to give it a try, I recommend that you go for The Alchemist. That is THE book by Paulo Coelho. It’s easy reading yet its message is very powerful. After so many years since I read it, I’ve never forgotten about the book and most importantly, the lesson it imparts.

I was introduced to the Alchemist back in the mid 90’s. I’ve read it several times since then and have read a few of Coelho’s other titles, the Valkeries being another favorite of mine. I like his style of writing and highly recommend his books as well.
