Why you should have a ONE CARD by 1 Utama

onecard logo Why you should have a ONE CARD by 1 UtamaI’m a frequent visitor at 1 Utama shopping center, and for so long since the launch of the ONE CARD by 1 Utama, I never applied for it although initially I think they were even running a promotion to give it out to shoppers for free. If I’m not mistaken, there were several other occasions when they ran promotions to offer the cards for free too.

Only recently I decided to apply for it, for one particular reason. But when I enquired more about the card’s benefits, I found out more about how else I can stand to benefit from the card’s privileges and other conveniences.

Find out why you should get a ONE CARD too if you frequently shop at 1 Utama.

Privileges of ONE CARD membership

One of the more exciting benefits of the card are exclusive promotions offered to cardmembers. Since joining, I’ve had several communications sent to me on the promotions available to me as a cardholder. You get exclusive invitations to sale previews, member-only events and member-only offers from selected merchants.

There are also birthday giveaways and during my birthday month, I got a free meal at BBQ Chicken Restaurant (read the review of BBQ Chicken Restaurant I wrote about earlier).

Convenience of a prepaid parking ticket

This was the sole reason why I wanted to apply for this card initially. You can use the card as a prepaid parking card where you top it up at the  Autopay machine with whatever amount you wish. Then whenever you visit 1 Utama, you don’t need to take a parking ticket and pay at the machine before you leave. Instead, as you enter, just slot in your OneCard at the entry machine and when you exit, just slot it in again at the exit. For me it’s a convenience as I don’t need to stop by the Autopay machine to pay before exiting. I just need to top it up once every couple of weeks when my credit runs out.

You can also get free parking if you decide to park at the exclusive parking spaces reserved for cardmembers. But it’s only available at some specified parking locations. I have never tried using those parking spaces because I prefer to park at our regular parking areas for easy access to certain places in the mall.

Point accummulation and instant redemption of points

This is another feature of the card. Hundreds of retailers at 1 Utama are merchants who work with OneCard to give you the benefit of point accummulation when you spend at their outlets. For every RM1 spent at participating retailers, you will get 1 UPoint. You can then use the points to pay for your purchases. As good as instant redemption, but only better because it’s for what you want!

How to apply for ONE CARD and how much does it cost?

You can apply for the card at the ONE CARD Customer Service Centres both in 1 Utama’s new and old wing. At the new wing, it’s located on the ground floor of Highstreet. If you can locate the Charles & Keith outlet, then you won’t miss the kiosk in the centre. At the old wing, it is located next to Burger King on the ground floor.

A 1 year membership costs RM10 whilst a 3 year membership costs RM20. It’s worth it to sign up for 3 years to save the annual renewal efforts as well as a RM10 savings. You will get your card on the spot upon application so you can make use of it right away when you shop or dine.

If there’s one card that I find truly useful, I have to say this is the card. I have a lot of other membership cards with all kinds of retailers, but most of them serve as either point accumulation or discount cards. This ONE CARD gives me more as a “everything in one card”. So if you are a frequent shopper at 1 Utama, you can also consider applying for the card to help you save on shopping whilst enjoying more benefits and privileges that I talked about.

I got mine for free when they first started it way back when. Pretty useful since I’m there a lot too.

You can get the card renewed for free the next year when you swipe it 5 times throughout the year.

I like the card for the parking benefits, too – I hate lining up behind people who take their own sweet time paying for parking.

Good for you to get it free. It really is a convenient parking card huh. I love it! :) And thanks for that tip about getting it renewed for free. I didn’t know that. I’ve definitely swiped it more than 5 times already by now.

Just to let you know, the preferred parking is not freen. infact the charges are even more expensive. its RM2 for first 6 hours and RM3 for subsequent hours.

FYI
i’ve accumulated > RM 150 in the card
i goes to > 30 shops asking and not 1 is letting me redeem the point!!
and when i ask from the CS in new wing. they just say depends on the shop if they want let u redeem or not?
so burn my RM 150? the card is not useful at all
