Not so poised with the marketing

pack supermax Not so poised with the marketing
Have you heard of a sanitary napkin brand called Poise? This post is not a review of the product because I’ve not tried it. Neither do I recognise it when I saw the advertisement in the newspapers today. I’m not even sure if I’ve seen these selling on the shelves.

Anyway, the reason I’m writing about it is because the advertisement in the newspapers caught my eye. Poise is marketed in a pretty unconventional way compared to the rest in the industry.

This is the opening line to the advertisement:

“Bladder weakness is a common condition ? 1 in 4 adult women have experienced it at some time in their lives.”

With that one liner, I’m sure you can guess how Poise is positioned in the market. The company not only sells a product to keep you comfortable with a wet condition, they also give you tips on how to manage a weak bladder!

Anyway, I’m not saying such a condition is something to be ashamed of or abnormal. But I just feel that a regular sanitary napkin will serve this purpose just as well. And for this company to market its product specifically targeted at bladder control problems, it just seems rather odd. Not to mention not too poised if your product is called Poise.

well, it’s true that most people do use pads for incontinence. I can’t think of anything worse than having to wear one of these every single day though.

Cloth pads are so much better :)

let’s hope we won’t have to use one of these on a daily basis then!
