For a new mother celebrating her first Mother’s Day, it must be very exciting. I’ve had a taste of that recently and I must admit it was a great feeling to be celebrated as a mother. It’s a nice change to finally know what it is like to be a mother and to love so unconditionally and unselfishly…
Anyway, this third installment of the Mother’s Day gift idea is one that is meant for a new mother. There’s a great book that’s very helpful for new mothers called What To Expect The First Year, written by Heidi Murkoff, Arlene Eisenberg and Sandee Hathaway, who also wrote a highly recommended book entitled What To Expect When You’re Expecting.
So what’s so great about this book? Read on below.

The What To Expect The First Year book provides lots of helpful tips and information about a baby’s typical growth and development by stages. I find that by reading the month by month baby development that tells you what you can come to expect to experience, you’re mentally preparing yourself for the changes that will come. At least you won’t flip out at every small thing or change that comes your way. It’s very common amongst new mothers to panic at everything and anything that is new to them.
I was first introduced to What To Expect The First Year when I got it as a gift not long after I delivered my boy. And almost every night during my maternity months, I poured over the pages just to see how I was doing and what I can expect of my baby’s development and antics.
I have to admit though, that I didn’t get to finish reading the entire book. By the time baby turned over and got mobile, there was just never enough time to pick up a good read! But whatever pages that I managed to read up from this book, I found it to be very helpful and therefore am recommending this as a gift to a new mother.
So guys, get a copy of this book for your lovely wife this Mother’s Day to celebrate her as the very special mummy of your child! She will love you more for this book! *wink*
