Has anyone use the mobile vouchers from MyStyle before?

Hi there! If you're new here, and enjoy what you're reading, you can subscribe to my feed. Thanks for visiting!

I was recently introduced to a website called MyStyle (visit the site here). MyStyle offers mobile discounted vouchers for many retail merchants in the country. How it works is that you have to register as a user to be able to enjoy the discount vouchers offered. Of course this is not a free for all service. To receive the mobile vouchers, you need to send an SMS to request for the mobile discount voucher to be sent to you mobile phone. You then need to quote your voucher and phone serial number to the merchant in order to qualify for the said discount.

Each SMS will cost you either RM1.50 or RM3.50, depending on the type of voucher you have requested for download. There are essentially 2 types of mobile discount vouchers offered, one that offers a significant discount of 50% at a single merchant. This can only be used once in a year at one merchant. The other type of mobile voucher is available all year round and there is no limit to how many times you can request for the voucher to be downloaded to your phone. However, the discount offered is of course not as high.

To see if a particular merchant is a member of MyStyle’s mobile discount vouchers, consumers can look out for MyStyle’s logo that is displayed at the stores who participate in such discounts. I’m not sure if I’ve not been observant enough, but I really don’t recall ever seeing it on any store.

Has anyone used this service from MyStyle before? I would really appreciate if you could share your experience of this service. I do wonder if this really works. If I request for an SMS, I would be charged upfront and if the vendor rejects the use of the mobile voucher, there’s nothing I can do and would have wasted my SMS charges, right? That’s one main worry I have whether this mobile voucher site is for real. Anyone care to share?

I had another bad experience. In 2008 there was this promo – send SMS for 3 merchants and you’ll get one free SMS voucher for Sushi King’s 50% off all plates. The Sushi King promo ended on 30Sept. And I received that SMS on 30 Sep, with a validity of one week. Do you expect me to rush out that night to Sushi King?
And each unsuccessful request is charged RM0.30, what a great way to cheat more money out of us.

Hello. There were actually grace period from Sushi King of 7 days. Meaning it will be until 6 Oct 08. The voucher can be used until that date. However, any physical download was shut down on the Sept 30, 11.59pm. We apologize for the miscommunication and inconvenience.
