Makeup can be so intimidating!
by Penny on June 22, 2008
I don’t use any makeup. Not even a lipstick. I only have a Nivea lip care which I
reviewed earlier. When I was talking to my colleagues about this free photoshoot that I’m doing with Covershots (read about the deal
here), they asked if the shoot included a makeup session. Unfortunately, it does not. It’ll cost me RM100 to do a makeup for a 5 minute photoshoot. So no, forget it. They’re a bit shocked that I’m going “naked” face for the shoot and insist I should at least wear lipstick to add colour. And while I’m at it, I might as well put a little cheek colour too. And oh, why not mascara also? That sounds like a full makeup regime to me!
A few suggestions came up for me to consider getting a couple of basic makeup items. Lip and cheek stains seem to be the favourites amongst my colleagues and so I heard a lot about them. It works well if I intend to buy just one makeup item and get to use it as both a lipstick and a blusher.

Dermatologically tested lip and cheek stain from Body Shop
After seeing these, I still felt uncomfortable about wearing them as I was worried they may actually look too bright and red on me. So the next alternative is then to just go for a tinted lip balm or a lipgloss instead of a lipstick.

Lancome’s Color Fever Lip Gloss
I like the light shades that the lip balms and lipgloss come in. Either one is fine with me and it sure is easy enough to apply. I don’t have to worry about experimenting with the makeup and looking like a little clown! I don’t wait to ruin that one free shot I have. Free photography is hard to come by so let’s play nice and get a decent photo, agree? I’m looking forward to it.
