Learn the secrets to the small things in life

by Penny on May 13, 2008

There’s a great book that I think everyone should have. It’s called “Trade Secrets. Everything You Will Ever Need To Know About Everything“. The book teaches you a thing or two about the small and big stuff in your daily life. Some of these tips are strange, but supposedly true. I am anxious to try some of these out and see how well they work! Here are some interesting ones I picked out. There are tonnes of others by all sorts of categories.

Ripen green bananas by leaving a red tomato next to them.

Remove dead skin and beat facial blackheads by adding a teaspoon of sugar to your soap.

If you want to lose weight from your hips, avoid spicy foods because they over-stimulate the glands that cause fat storage in your hips and bum.

To remove ink stains from all sorts of materials, spray with hair-spray first and then clean.

Sticky label marks can be stubborn to remove from glass. Try using a little peanut butter rubbed in on some soft cotton wool.

But new shoes at the end of the day when your feet are at their ‘largest’. If you buy shoes in the morning, they can become uncomfortable later on in the day.

Don’t buy expensive dandruff shampoos, just add some olive oil to your conditioner.

To get rid of the shine from black trousers, brush them with black coffee and then press with a damp cloth.

Did you know any of those above? I sure didn’t! I’m going to browse through and see what other funny tips I come across.
