Great Hainanese chicken rice at Centre Point

by Penny on September 10, 2008

Hidden in a corner in Centre Point at Bandar Utama is a great little cafe where friends hang out for drinks, good food and free WiFi. Pardon me that I’m not mentioning the name of this place, all because my memory is serving me terribly! I actually frequent this place but I’ve forgotten the name! Each time I want to go there, I only refer to it as the chicken rice place.

They serve a lot more than just chicken rice, in fact you will find an array of Chinese food selection on their menu. But my personal favourite is the Hainanese chicken rice. Take a quick scan across the cafe and you will notice that most patrons order this dish.

What I enjoy about this is the fragrant rice. It is an oily rice but you will be pleased that it is not cooked with too much oil.

I could eat this all on its own!

The steamed chicken is also rather tasty. Even for my better half who doesn’t like eating steamed chicken, he made an exception for this because it tastes good! The portion is not too large, which I found to be just enough to fill the tummy at the end of the meal.

This dish is served with a bowl of soup and it costs just RM5.90. I personally find it rather cheap. On top of that, we really enjoy this chicken rice so we definitely give it both thumbs up.

If you want to find this little corner cafe, just head along to the new wing of Centre Point where Guardian and Subway are. Walk towards the end of the building towards an exit where the McDonald’s building is just next door.

I think this restaurant’s name is Kopibar. Try their chunky Pork Balls too! ;-)
