Going green

by Penny on April 25, 2008

Tuesday was International Earth day. At work, we wore green to work to symbolise going green, an effort to be environmentally friendly. Today, we invited two groups of students to show their entrepreneurship by selling “green” products. Each team made about 500 products to put on sale and they range from pretty potted plants to mousepads to bookmarks to jars and containers. I have to say they were very creative.

I support their cause in going green, so I bought an item from each team. From one team, I bought a mousepad that comes with an attached wrist-rest and a slot to slip in photos or notes. From the other team, I bought an origami of Japanese morning glory.

Both teams did very well. Within a few short hours, they had sold out everything. I think many interested buyers wished that they had made more of their products. Myself included. I was very interested in some potted plants. They were just nice to be placed on my office desk. Unfortunately, they were all sold out within minutes of them opening shop.

Anyway, I’m still quite happy with my little Japanese morning glory…

I think that this needs to be publicised alot more. Its such a great cause and is something that anyone can get into soooo easiy. Well done to everyone who made the effort in this project.
