Which do you prefer, the good old canvas shoes or the bright and colourful foam clog shoes by Crocs? If you say you are now into Crocs like how I currently am, then you’d be in for a surprise to hear that Crocs is not really doing well in its business and some auditors expressed concern as to whether the company could last!
I was definitely surprised to read about this news in today’s papers. It wasn’t in the mainstream news reporting, but in the Lifestyle section of The Star. This piece of news refers to a recent audit that was done on Crocs in the US. There were huge losses by the company in the year 2008 versus a healthy profit in 2007. And it is now uncertain if Crocs would eventually close down.
I do wonder what will happen to the stores here if they do close down. A closing down sale? If that happens, I bet people will grab lots of these shoes before they disappear from the face of the earth!
Perhaps the company could look into producing different kinds of shoes to cater to the market’s tastes for shoes. This is definitely not the time to go into unknown or niche areas to sell unconventional shoes like woven shoes or even vegan shoes if they want to tap into a mass market to gain sales.
Perhaps a shoe company that’s already doing well can take on such products, but not for an ailing one. Whatever it is, I thought Crocs is now just getting better in its designs. I do hope it will stay around a bit more. It would be a pity to see it go.
On the other hand, if you do have a liking for something different, you can check out some of the cool shoes I saw on one particular site (click on any of the links above). Lots of stlyes and designs, along with the more unconventional types of shoes too.
I like companies or stores which also offer to do something back for the society and this is one of them. Looks like it’s got quite a lot of other activities going on too, not just about the shoes. Check it out!
