Recently I was searching for online car insurance and road tax renewal options as mine is due for renewal this month. Through my search, I came upon MYEG Services which offers both renewal for insurance and road tax, and it also offers the a 5% rebate on road tax renewal fees too. “Great!” I thought. So I clicked on the “Sign Up” button to be a registered user and thought all was going to be rosy and convenient and I could get both my auto insurance and road tax renewed in no time.
I was wrong. At the registration page where I have to fill in my personal details to sign up as a user of the site, I encountered problems and right away gave up on them, leaving the site unimpressed.
I didn’t mind that the information needed to register as a user were pretty comprehensive, with the usual contact details, personal identification number, etc. When I had filled out all the necessary details and clicked on the submit button, a little message popped up to say something like this “Enter the username properly”.
Does anyone know the definition of “properly” here? I sure don’t have a clue. All it said at the username instruction was that it should be between 6 to 10 characters. I tried several different types of usernames, from just being alphabets to having a mix of alphabets and numericals and making sure that the characters were between the 6 to 10 allowed. Nothing seemed to work. Each time I was asked to “Enter the username properly”.
Whatever is the issue with the username, I thought the system should be built in such a way that should be smart enough to tell you what the problem is. If the username is already taken, then say so. Now I don’t know if those usernames I tried were actually in use already or there’s just something not right about how I mix and match my alphabets and numbers, or maybe I wasn’t using enough capital letters, etc. I just don’t know what the problem is.
Has anyone encountered any similar issue in signing up with MYEG Services? I don’t like it already…

thats pretty dumb programming. hahahaha
yea, it sucks. i tried that too in the hope of reducing usual hassle and fuss of going through the government department procedure, but this so called e-service appeared to be more distress…
Minus the confusing application, all myeg users are forced to take the offered insurance service as well….
I renewed my road tax with myeg in the mid of 2010 when they were also offering free personal accident of RM30,000. However until today, I have not heard anything about this free insurance from them or received any information or policy regarding this the insurance. So I begin to suspect this is a scam.
