eat all you can dim sum buffet at renaissance hotel 200x300 Eat all you can dim sum buffet at Renassaince hotel for RM22 is not that great

When I was first notified of a “eat all you can dim sum buffet” at Renassaince Hotel’s Dynasty Restaurant, I thought it was a great deal to be paying just RM22 per head to enjoy all that dim sum either for breakfast, brunch or lunch. For RM22 per person, a total of 22 dishes are offered on the buffet spread. This sounded fantastic. Until we were there to get a taste of it.

True enough there were 22 items on the buffet menu. But it really wasn’t very varied because there were only about 8 or 9 steamed dumplings to choose from, about 5 other fried dishes, 2 types of cheong fun (prawn and barbeque pork), congee, some pau variations and 2 types of dessert.

It may sound like a lot of food and variety in words, but at the point when we sat down to pick the dumplings and to have just those selected items on the table, it really didn’t seem like we got much variety. Of course, we were free to order additional food items as add-ons and pay for them, but that’s really not the point of us going for the buffet.

Taste wise, I didn’t find the dim sum to be spectacular. They were just average and I’ve definitely had better dim sum. I only enjoyed 3 dishes there, the steamed chicken with mushrooms and the 2 desserts. I much prefer the dim sum at Jin Xuan Hong Kong Restaurant which has an impressive selection not to mention quite tasty food at reasonable prices too.

This RM22 dim sum buffet promotion at Dynasty is only valid for the month of April. But in the month of May, the restaurant is repeating this promotion with a little addition to the spread to make it a total of 28 dishes and the price this time will be at RM28 per head.

I won’t bother going again. But if you are keen to try, go ahead and make a reservation for a table because it can be quite crowded. This goes to show that perhaps there are many people who find it worthwhile and good while I didn’t.

Tekkaus, yeah it’s a pity I didn’t enjoy it :(

Fark, I would recommend Jin Xuan Hong Kong restaurant. I wrote a post about it and you can click on the link in the above post.
