Having passed the BBQ Chicken restaurant a couple of times at the new wing of 1 Utama, we decided to give it a try one day due to a lack of idea on what other different food places we can try. And it was a good decision because I enjoyed the food there and have even returned for more. From the few times that we visited, we got to try several different dishes and I enjoyed most of them.
BBQ Chicken restaurant’s tagline is Korea’s No. 1 Chicken Restaurant. As weird as it sounds, I do agree that those chicken dishes we had were pretty awesome. Here’s what we had and what I would recommend for you to order if you decide to give it a try.
My obvious favourite was the Jerk BBQ that comes under the Barbeque menu section. Here’s the description of this dish from the menu:

Chicken whole leg cooked over charcoal fire with no additional oil used then spread with authentic Korean style barbeque sauce made of more than 20 flavourful natural seasoning and red pepper grain giving it a little tinge of spiciness. Complete with Golden Fries and Coleslaw.
This dish is quite spicy for me. But the chicken meat was tender and nice. The sauce that it was marinated with is very tasty, so it made it very delicious. The side servings of fries and coleslaw were adequate and I also liked the coleslaw in particular, because it was quite creamy and rich. This satisfying meal costs RM14.50.
My second favourite is the Hot Hot Drum under the Olive menu section.

Get ready to be thrilled by the hot and spicy taste from Korea! Hot red pepper grain and paste sauce generously spread over crispy and juicy chicken.Complete with golden fries and coleslaw.
This is also another spicy dish and after a bite or two, I had to sip a drink! Nevertheless, it tasted good and I wouldn’t mind another bite of this spicy chicken. This dish is served at RM13.70.
For the sake of my toddler son, there was one occasion where I ordered something non-spicy so that he too can have a bite. I had the Chicken Burger under the Burgers and Bread menu and it costs RM12.50. This is what you get out of this burger:

Grilled boneless chicken leg with Korean Herbs sauce. Complete with golden fries and salad.
This one is so-so, nothing extraordinary and nothing adverse as well. But I don’t think I’ll repeat this order since I’ve found other more delicious dishes. Works well if you also intend to feed your kids, but then again they have quite an interesting kiddie menu and you might want to order one of those meals.
Then we also tried the Charbroiled Sandwich that also costs RM12.50 and this is what it is:

Marinated chicken with homemade seasoning, grilled to perfection topped with onions and fresh tomato slices, sandwiched in an earthly bread. Complete with golden fries and salad.
I found this to be a bit too sweet and weird tasting for my tastebuds. I didn’t quite enjoy this and was surprised that this is actually indicated on their menu to be a chef’s recommendation. Maybe it’s just not good for me, but good for others.
Overall, I find our meals there to have been pleasant and good. I would definitely go back there but at the rate I’m going, I might need to take Lipovox! Nah, just kidding
I believe the use of olive oil instead of the normal oil at BBQ Chicken does help a little since it’s healthier than normal oil.
The only thing is that those barbeque chicken dishes definitely didn’t quite taste Korean, and the restaurant didn’t have any Korean feel to it despite its tagline of being the number 1 Korean chicken restaurant! To learn more about BBQ Chicken restaurant, you can check out their website.
