Absolute Thai

Hi there! If you're new here, and enjoy what you're reading, you can subscribe to my feed. Thanks for visiting!

I’ve always seen a reasonable crowd eating at Absolute Thai at Ikano. Never having tried it, I suggested to eat there today. Everything on the menu looked delicious and tempting but I settled for the Thai Laksa.

It came very quickly, much to my surprise. It’s not served how you may expect a typical bowl of laksa noodles is served. This is what it is:

thai laksa noodle

The noodles, beansprouts, pickled vegetables, cucumber, long beans and an egg are served plain on a plate.

thai laksa sauce

The curry is served separately in a little wok that is held over a fire to keep warm.

This dish is priced at RM12.90. Considering the ingredients given, it’s a rather expensive dish that serves one. I definitely did not taste any meat so it could well suit a vegetarian. However, do check what ingredients are used to cook the curry though.

Taste wise, it was a little strange to my tastebud and it was very spicy. By the time I ate three quarter of the portion, I gave up with plenty of curry left. But then again, everyone has different tolerance level so who knows, you might find it bearable.

Would I recommend this? Well, no…if I ever eat at Absolute Thai again, I think I’ll choose a safer bet like the Tom Yum noodle or Thai fried rice.
