I ended up buying from a particular vendor who had endless freebies to offer. Of course, the price was right too. The Lenovo Y410 comes with a Intel Centrino Duo Core processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard disk, DVD RW, a 14.1 inch LCD screen, modem, wifi, LAN, bluetooth, built-in 1.3MP camera, built-in 5-in-1 card reader, 3 USB ports and is DOS based. I had it installed with Microsoft XP as its OS instead. Actually, it was advised to be used on Vista Home for many of the functions to work but the user simply prefers XP. Actually I personally prefer XP too.
This model is quite a nice one, and not one with the ThinkPad design which is all black and totally IBM-like. The Y410 is silver in colour and has many shortcut buttons installed. One technology that it also carries is VeriFace. VeriFace is a security feature where the user’s facial features are used as recognition points to log on to the computer instead of keying in a password or using the thumbprint technology. One sales guy was trying to impress us by saying that the technology is able to recognise the face of a person at 20 years of age right up to the person turns 70. In my mind, I was wondering if the notebook would even last 10 years, not to mention 50 years!
The notebook costs RM2,550 inclusive of Microsoft XP operating system. At this price, here are the freebies we got:

Freebies galore!
Items as per picture above:
1. A screen/monitor cleaning kit
2. 4 port USB hub
3. Keyboard skin
4. Notebook cooling pad
5. Notebook lock
6. Kingston 2GB pen drive
7. Optical mouse
8. Headset and microphone
Other freebies were upgrades to 2GB RAM and 256 Graphics. Of course a Lenovo laptop bag comes with it and I don’t consider it a freebie. So all in all, it was a laptop with 10 freebies. Do you think this is a good buy?

May I know what is the name of this particular vendor where you bought the notebook? Thanks.
Benny, I’ve got to go find that receipt to recall the name of the shop. I’ve forgotten it by now…
