A bag of bags

by Penny on July 21, 2008

I’ve been a fan of small bags for years. Then when baby came along, I learned to appreciate larger bags for all the room I get to store all kinds of things. I’ve been hunting high and low for a perfect large-size weekend bag that not only stores all my stuff but also some toys, extra baby clothing and a diaper or two. It should serve not only as a handbag but a baby bag, somewhat.

I’ve seen many that don’t pass the test. The day the latest Isetan members’ preview sales began, I saw one that I truly like. It comes in the shape, size and shade that I want. It was on 30% discount and I thought I’d give it a think.

Last weekend, I saw the same bag going on sale at Metro for 50% discount. So I waited no more and bought it. I was very happy with the practical compartments that it comes with. In fact, there are so many that I thought I better start organising which compartments are best for which items! The good thing about all these compartments is that they aren’t visible so at least you don’t see a whole lot of little pockets all over the bag.

Don’t be deceived by how small it looks. It’s actually very roomy!

My mom thought it’s a nice bag as well and she picked it up to see how useful it is. She got a shock to see what I store in them. This are what she found.

 A bag of bags

She asked why do I have so many bags within a bag! Well it’s actually true, other than an umbrella in the bag, you won’t find any loose items in there. The 5 items are it! But I have an explanation for why I have so many little bags in a bag.

Item 1: Purse – Everybody has a purse, so no big deal, right?

Item 2: Wristlet – I use this at work during lunch break where I have cash and my mobile phone in it. It’s very handy when you’re trying to buy food and have the wristlet sling onto the wrist instead of carrying a purse and a phone all in one hand. For that matter, it’s very handy when it comes to occassions when you don’t want to carry a bag around.

Item 3: Pouch – This little pouch is a gift and it holds all kinds of my membership cards from Isetan, Metro, Jusco, Tesco…you get the idea…

Item 4: Coin purse – This is the latest edition to my collection of “bags” and also a gift (previous post here). It’s from Jim Thompson and is good for holding lots of coins.

Item 5: Cardholder – This doesn’t count as a “bag” item, right? It’s just a cardholder :) Where else would I keep my call cards?

So I’m not that crazy as a bag of bags person, am I?

Maybe because I have no pockets, I have to make it up with many bags! ;)
